As part of its ongoing strategic partnership with Loughborough University, the University of Bahrain inaugurated four renewable energy laboratories at its main campus on 16th of April, 2019. The event was attended by different stakeholders and included the Minister of Education, Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, British Ambassador to Bahrain and the UNDP resident representative to Bahrain.
These four laboratories were developed with the assistance of the Centre for Renewable Energy Systems Technology (CREST) at Loughborough University, which is the the largest and leading UK sustainable energy research centre.
The establishment of these laboratories reflects UoB commitment to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and it is in line with the national efforts to utilize clean and renewable sources of energy. This initiative will provide our students, researchers and other local and regional stakeholders the necessary infrastructure and resources to engage in capacity building activities related to this vital sector.
